Windows 10: Poweroutage during Bitlocker decryption, now I cannot access the drive, any ideas?

The drive takes "forever" to register in disk management, and when it does, I am able to try to unlock it. However, after another session of "forever", it comes back with "wrong password". But I know the password is correct, I have copy/pasted it and used regularely... Hoping someone have suggestions to sollution granting me access to the files, is after all 2 TB of kids' pictures, videos and off course much more **** I treasure and don't...JonB, Norway

Bitlocker Stuck Decrypting

@rinconmike For future reference, instead of using the TASK MANAGER to restart, you can simply hold CTRL + SHIFT and right click on blank space on the Task bar, to bring up 'Exit Explorer'. Another option is to use software.

BitLocker Drive Decryption stuck For days...

This is another reason I don't recommend any MS built-in encryption, because of the number of lost files I've seen due to keys not found or working, failed decryption, etc. etc.

For over ten years I've used simple folder passwording by 7Zip daily without any problem, nor have I ever seen a problem here in forums where I deal with Bitlocker crises every day.

If nothing else works you'll need to run Data Recovery, then wipe the drive with Clean Command to reinstall Windows or reformat for data:

Bitlocker Decryption paused and does not resume.

I can imagine the inconvenience you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction in fixing the issue.



I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below to fix the issue.

1. Open the command prompt as admin.
   
2. Type in manage-bde –off <drive> and hit
   Enter.
   
   manage-bde –resume <drive>
   

manage-bde –on <drive>

Replace Drive by drive letter

1. Restart the computer and check the status of the issue
