Windows 10: Powershell 7.xxxx no longer runs

Powershell 7 ran fine less than a month ago. The Powershell that comes with Windows 10 runs just fine. Please don't recommend switching to Windows 11 as I have vast experience running it, and did not enjoy the experience. So I returned to Windows 10 last year never to come back. I've searched for the error for days and nothing relevant comes up, especially regarding Powershell 7. Boggles the mind why old versions still work, but the latest versions just stopped working all of the sudden. Additionally, when I reinstall Powershell 7 via either Winget or the .exe and .msi versions, I receive an e

PowerShell instead of Commandline in Creators Update

Interestingly enough my personal laptop just got the update...and still has Command Prompt listed, not PowerShell...

Edit: Not that it matters...I use both regularly. *Toast :toast:

 

Removing powershell 7

Hi. I'll be glad to help you today.

In order to uninstall Powershell 7, please open Windows settings, Apps then select installed app. From the list, select the 3 dots next to PowerShell 7 and from the list select Uninstall.

PowerShell randomly poping-up in tool bar

Just to verify, do you have any scheduled tasks that uses Powershell? Scheduled tasks makes Powershell window appear periodically on your computer, therefore we suggest that you check the Task Scheduler. Here are the steps:

• Click on Start.
• In the search bar, type Task Scheduler and click on
  
  Task Scheduler in the results.
• Under Active Tasks, check for any tasks that use Powershell and the scheduled time.

If the issue still persist, we suggest that you run a Windows Defender scan to see if it will pick up any malware that the first scan missed.
