  1. PowerShell Core Question

Hi,i just found out that PowerShell core now exists, so my question is if one day a now major windows 10 update will eventually see the official release of PowerShell core where it's standard on windows 10,since its not intended to replace windows PowerShell, and it will be working alongside the main windows PowerShell,i went and downloaded the 6.1.0 pre-release,also,can I run this on the home edition of windows 10,or is only for the pro and enterprise edition, and should I wait instead of installing it until its officially releases and integrated into windows?

    :)

To assist you better, I suggest you to answer the below questions.

    • Why was the powershell command used and what issue were you facing previously?
    • Which are the apps you are referring to Core apps?
    • Currently on which build are you in Windows 10?
Please post us back with the information above to help you better.

PowerShell instead of Commandline in Creators Update

Interestingly enough my personal laptop just got the update...and still has Command Prompt listed, not PowerShell...

Edit: Not that it matters...I use both regularly. *Toast :toast:

    PowerShell question

The username you typed in underneath your diagram is the username for the Built-In Admin account.

    • To get the prompt that you wrote you would have to log in as the Built-In Admin account and then open Powershell from there.
    • I have never heard of anybody running Powershell using the Built-In Admin and have no idea if it would work [there are several undocumented limitations to the Built-In Admin account in Windows 10]

Is that what you meant or were you just asking how to get an elevated Powershell window?

    • This is done by right-clicking on the Powershell link in the Start menu & selecting Run as Admin.
