Windows 10: Powershell Windows Product Key Enigma

Just getting started in Powershell. after some reservations in thinking this was for Network Admins. However, I am seeing some very useful features for a client work station. Which has piqued my wanting to explore more.I tried a query to capture my Windows Product key. When I enter; Get - ComputerInfo will provide 20 of the 25 chars. However, running "Get-WmiObject -query ‘select * from SoftwareLicensingService’.OA3xOriginalProductKey"*I get an error "You must provide a value expression following the '*' operator. At line:3 char:1Trying to get a better understanding Powershell.Thanks

Partial Product key not same as product key obtained from PowerShell command - Cannot activate Windows

My PC was recently upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10. The original Windows 8 license was for Education.

The partial product key given on the Activation Page is not the same as the product key obtained from Windows Powershell command.

Where can I find the rest of the product key from the Activation Page?

I have tried numerous steps without luck.

Thank you for contacting Microsoft community.

I suggest you to Uninstall the license using the following steps.

• Press Windows key + X
• Click Command Prompt (Admin)
• At the command prompt, type: slmgr.vbs -upk
• Press Enter, this will uninstall the product key from the computer.

Further on, install Windows 8.1 activate the copy with the product key on the new machine. Then again upgrade the same to Windows 10 using Window Update or Media Creation Tool.

Try it with - Power Shell as (Admin) using this command

Run Powershell Command

1. Open Powershell and type the command listed below
   
   powershell "(Get-WmiObject -query 'select * from SoftwareLicensingService').OA3xOriginalProductKey"
   
2. Hit - Enter : your Windows Server product key
   
   will show up in the - PowerShell window
   
   Note : I suggest to : Copy+Paste the above, code into
   
   the blue - Powershell Command as (Admin) and press - Enter
