Windows 10: PowerShell windows suddenly opens and closes with High RAM usage in the background.

After around an hour from starting my laptop suddenly an empty PowerShell window opens and suddenly closes, opening task manager shows around 2 GB of RAM, I close it myself but after each restart this problem is still appearing which is really annoying. Is there any solution of this?

Powershell sudden high ram usage

Hi there!. i have a laptop with windows 10. first time it was 7 but in august i changed to 10 and first thing i noticed powershell was using just 10-20mb of ram that i didnt care about, BUT after i turned off windows security due its 300mb ram usage (iam 4gb ram so every mb is important for my work). i installed some vpn's to open telegram links of homework (internet issues) so some of them worked and some didn't but after that i noticed powershell ram usage became almost 1gb everytime i boot! i freaked about it but because i heard hackers are using powershell. so its been almost a week of this situation but i always end powershell tasks on startup but i was thinking of a solution if could. High RAM usage, nothing open.

Seeing your background apps (especially vast and acronis) the ram usage seems normal.

Do remember just closing all your background services does not mean the total memory will be free. Windows itself needs Ram to run its background services to ensure smooth running and that will consume some amount of memory depending on how much features are currently available.

Booting into safe mode releases some ram because it runs only the most essential services needed for windows hence the low ram usage.

 

Unknown Constant RAM Usage

To explore more on RAM usage by processes and see in-depth I advise you to open the Resource monitor, please follow the below steps.

Step 1 :

Open Task Manager

Step 2:

Click on Performance

Step 3:

At the bottom click on Open Resource Monitor

Step 4:

Under Resource Monitor windows click on Memory

Step 5:

Click on Working Set to list the top process utilizing the more RAM and then evaluate RAM usage.
