Windows 10: Preferred language keeps resetting

I share a PC with someone, and when they login they have English United Kingdom as their preferred language.However when I log in and set English United Kingdom as my preferred language and remove English United States, after a few hours English United Kingdom is removed and English United States is set as the only preferred language.How do I stop this setting from resetting?

Hello,

Assuming you want to use English (United States) as your preferred language, try these steps

1. Right click Start Button or press Windows + X keys and select Windows PowerShell (Admin).

2. In the administrative Windows PowerShell window, type these commands one-by-one and press Enter key after each:

Get-WinUserLanguageList

This will display list of installed languages on your machine. Note the LanguageTag for your preferred language.

$1=New-WinUserLanguageList <LanguageTag>

Replace <LanguageTag> for your preferred language. For example, if your preferred language is English (United States), then you can use $1=New-WinUserLanguageList en-US.

Set-WinUserLanguageList $1

After this, when opted, type Y to confirm setting preferred language. Close Windows PowerShell and you're done.

Meanwhile, suggest you to follow these methods and check if that works for you.

Method 1: Suggest you to run the LPK setup and remove the language pack.

1. Press WIndows key + R to get the run window.
   
2. Type ‘LPKSETUP’ and press enter.
   
3. Click ‘Uninstall display languages.
   
4. Choose the language then click ‘Next’.
   

Once this is done, restart the computer and check if that helps.

Method 2: Further, suggest you to open the Registry Editor and remove the specific registry key and restart the PC to see if that makes any difference.

Windows Keeps resetting app preferences

• Did it also reset your PC settings configuration, or just the app preferences specifically for videos and picture files?
• Did you make any changes prior to this issue?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

In the meantime, you can also try the steps below and check if it will work:

1. Perform a clean boot.
It will start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. Also, it helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program, or an update, or when you run a program in Windows.

2. Once done, try to set again your preferences for videos and picture files.
