    Prefetch File Retention


    In the Windows 10 environment, do prefetch files within C:\Windows\Prefetch\ automatically get deleted over time even if the quantity in the folder does not exceed the 1024 limit? If yes, is there a specific criteria for prefetch file deletion? e.g., X amount of time? X amount of file usage? etc

    Prefetch files

    Hi Phil,

    Windows uses this feature to start your application faster. If you delete this, your application will take time to load because they're not preloaded. Windows will have to create .pf file again for Preloading. We suggest that you let Windows manage Prefetch
    on it's own.

    Don't hesitate to update us if you need further assistance.
