Windows 10: Preloading Intel Drivers into a Windows Image

Hello! I'm trying to build out Images and preload all of the necessary drivers for the hardware. I do not have the hardware, as I'm using Hyper-V to build the image. I've tried exporting the images as .WIM files and loading the drivers with DISM, and I've also tried loading the drivers live using the 'pnputils' command. I can load a large percentage of drivers, but it seems like I need to have the hardware present to install Intel Drivers. Is there a way for me to extract them without the hardware being present?

Step 1: Download the Drivers

First, you need to find a reliable source for the Preloader VCOM drivers. Websites like XDA Developers often host or link to various drivers, including those for MediaTek devices. Ensure you're downloading the drivers from a trustworthy source to avoid potential security risks.

Step 2: Disable Driver Signature Enforcement

Windows 10 64-bit has a feature called Driver Signature Enforcement, which only allows drivers with a valid digital signature to be installed. Since many Preloader VCOM drivers are not officially signed, you'll need to disable this feature temporarily to install the drivers.

1. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard and click on the Restart option in the Start menu under the power options.
   
2. Your PC will restart to a blue screen with several options. Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings and then click on Restart.
   
3. After your PC restarts, you'll see a list of options. Press 7 or F7 to select Disable driver signature enforcement.
   

Your PC will restart with Driver Signature Enforcement disabled for this session.

Step 3: Install the Drivers

With Driver Signature Enforcement disabled, you can now install the Preloader VCOM drivers.

1. Unzip the downloaded driver package if it's in a compressed format.
   
2. Open Device Manager on your PC. You can do this by right-clicking the Start button and selecting Device Manager.
   
3. Connect your device to the PC. It might show up under "Unknown Devices" or similar if the drivers are not installed.
   
4. Right-click the device entry in Device Manager and select Update driver.
   
5. Choose Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
   
6. Click Have Disk, and then Browse. Navigate to the location where you extracted the Preloader VCOM drivers, select the driver, and click Open > OK.
   
7. Follow the prompts to install the drivers. You might see a warning about the driver being unsigned. Since you've disabled Driver Signature Enforcement, you can proceed with the installation.
   

Step 4: Re-enable Driver Signature Enforcement

Once you've installed the drivers, it's important to re-enable Driver Signature Enforcement to keep your system secure:

• Restart your PC. Driver Signature Enforcement will be automatically re-enabled.

Startup error on discontinued Intel driver

Hi David,

Windows 10 update remove the Intel WiDi driver due to compatibility issue. We suggest uninstalling the Intel WiDi driver from Control Panel to avoid it from showing up every time you start your computer. To do this, kindly follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X on your keyboard.
• Select Control Panel.
• Click Programs.
• Choose Programs and Features.
• Click Intel (R) WiDi Driver and hit Uninstall.
• Restart your computer.
