Windows 10: pressed the storage pool creation and my data hard drive lost it's partition

hi i have windows 11 installed on my pc. recently i found that feature in windows to create hard drive pools and wanted to see if it also supported refs file system.i have 2 drive: one 1tb nvme win windows installed in it and one 1tb mechanical hard drive with all my data.after going to manage storage spaces, i clicked on create pool as i was sure it will ask some confirmation before deleting something on my drive, so i click on create pool and without asking file system and other typical things it gived me an error. after that i noticed my second drive lost it's partition and has one unas

W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

- press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
- diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
- list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
- select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
- clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
- create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
- exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
- click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that

 

Storage Pool

My Asus VivoBook recently ran out of storage space so I have been using an external hard drive to store everything. Yet my laptop progessed into no disc space and wasn't responding to basic functions like the use of Microsoft Word. I decided to create a
storage pool to allow my external and internal hard drives to work better and I lost all my files within the external hard drive. When i inset the hard drive into my computer it is no longer recognised unless I go into "manage storage spaces" where it says
there's an 1.81TB data pool available but I have no idea if my documents have been lost or if I can recover them.

Can anyone help?

C Drive, lost Space, partitions, please help.

Hi hazzaboiwalker,

Thank you for that screenshot, that partition is used as a Storage Pool and there is no data on that partition

Use the steps on the link below (Section - How do I remove a drive from a pool?) to remove that 99GB partition drive from the Storage Pool

Then when that is done, please provide a screenshot of the Disk management window again.
