Windows 10: Pressing 2,5 and 8 keys on my numpad types out different numbers, letters and random functions

Hello, When pressing the 2, 5 and 8 keys, it types out different numbers and letters sequences. Pressing 2 types out 103224789, 5 types out a1ds5fjk and pressing 8 types out 48T and sometimes does random functions such as pressing TAB, CapsLock, changing volume & brightness.I am using a Lenovo Ideapad 320 and this is happening only on the built-in numkeys to the right not the keys over the alphabet keys. This is not a Numlock issue and as it happens whether NumLock is on or off. I am using Windows 11 and my Windows build version is 21H2 OS Build 22000.2057

Numpad keys 2 5 8 don't work on login screen

I've recently got a weird bug.

When I'm opening my laptop after hibernation and it asks me to enter my password I can not type numbers 2 5 8 on the numpad and I have to type it on the main keyboard.

Num Lock is enabled. If I disable Num Lock then all the numpad keys stop to work as they must.

Any ideas how to fix the Num Pad on the logon screen?

Keyboard typing numbers instead of letters

I understand you are having trouble with your keyboard which types numbers instead of letters. Let me help you with this.

I understand that you have tried the num lock key and it's the same outcome.

Have you tried to press Fn key + Num lock? If not, try it and see if it will fix the concern.

If still it will not fix the issue, follow this steps:

1.Press Windows Key + R then type osk and hit Enter to open On-Screen Keyboard.

2.Turn off Num Lock by clicking on it (If it is ON it will be shown in different color).

3.If you can’t see the Num lock then click on Options.

4.Checkmark “Turn on numeric key pad” and click OK.

5.This will enable the NumLock option and you could easily turn it off.

6.Reboot your PC to save changes.

Lastly, sometimes 3rd party software can conflict with Hardware such as Keyboard and can cause this issue. In order to Fix Keyboard Typing Numbers Instead of Letters issue, you need to perform a clean boot on your PC .

1. Press windows key + R, then type msconfig.

2. Select In General tab, select Selective Start up, put a check mark on load system services and unchecked "Load start up items".
