Windows 10: Prevent auto switching of desktops if user closes app

Situation


Excel files open in multiple desktops

desktop 1 and 2


1 file is closed on desktop 2

System jumps to desktop 1


It's pretty annoying

stop auto-switching to another desktop

i figured it out
make sure to open first the very first excel file(excel app currently closed) in desktop 1
so it wont auto switch to desktop 2 after closing the 2nd file in desktop 1

also found out that every excel file you double click to open will stay in desktop 1
it previously opens at desktop 2 (doesnt matter where you double clicked the file)

im guessing this applies to other file types (doc, txt, etc.)

 

Switching User without logging off

Suggest you to close all open windows and restart the computer once to check if that helps.

Apps crashing/auto closing

Hi, I'm using a Surface pro 2017 model. In my PC, apps auto close in certain circumstances. This only happens to UWP apps. Other apps (eg: File explorer) does not face this situation;

-When the PC goes to sleep and I unlock the PC again, the apps are gone.

-When using an app in Tablet mode, I go to the start menu and when I swich to task view to go back to the app I was in, the apps are all gone

-When in desktop mode and the app is opened in full screen, and I switch to another app, the other app just closes/crashes.
