Windows 10: Prevent keyboard from waking laptop Windows 11

Due to a customer requirement a system used to control external hardware I would like to be able to blank the computer screen, and for the screen to come back on under my C++ program's control and not before then, despite possible accidental or incidental input from USB mouse and/or USB keyboard. As background, I am able to do both the screen blank and restore, first blanking the screen with a call to "SetThreadExecutionStateES_AWAYMODE_REQUIRED ES_SYSTEM_REQUIRED ES_CONTINUOUS" and returning with the same call but only ES_CONTINUOUS flag and without the awaymode f

Please follow these steps:

• Press Windows Key + X and click on Device Manager.
• Expand the Keyboards and right-click/tap on your Keyboard device.
• Tap Power Management and uncheck Allow this device to wake the computer.
• Click OK and restart the computer and check the issue.

I would like to let you know that some keyboards may not support this option. I would suggest you to check if you can disable the keyboard from waking the computer using a elevated command prompt.

• Press Windows + X and click on Command prompt(admin).
• Type the following command line and hit Enter.

powercfg -devicedisablewake "exact name of device listed in Device manager"

3. To check the name of your keyboard device, open Device manager
and expand Keyboards. Copy the device name and paste it in the command line.

How to stop mouse movement from waking the computer?

Thanks lgentry. I have a Microsoft wired keyboard and a Logitech wireless mouse. Under Device Manager>Keyboards it lists two "HID Keyboard Device"s and the Microsoft keyboard. Unchecking the "Allow this device to wake the computer" for the two HID keyboards fixed the problem as you suggested. Weird that one must prevent "keyboards" from waking the computer to in fact prevent the mouse from waking it.
