Windows 10: Prevent Windows 10 from re-opening existing apps after shut down

We all know it's Microsoft's duty to ruin user experience and introduce irritating features with every new Windows update. Unfortunately with recent update it has gone beyond bad experience. Whenever I shut down windows, next time whenever I start laptop it reopens all the previously opened applications, imagine if I had opened lot of applications as expected, as I am developer and shuts down windows or restart windows and next time when I start Windows instead of opening clean state which is what we expect when we restart, as the whole purpose of restart or shut down is to go to clean state, Windows tries to open all applications and irritates us.


Is there any way to get rid of these feature? By editing registry or some other way. Can some experts kindly help me with this? It's so irritating and my laptop hangs as windows keeps on trying all previously opened windows.


I have already disabled "Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device and reopen my apps after update or restart" in Sign In options, but that's not working. Earlier this used to work, now with recent update this is not working. Please help me to get rid of this annoying and stupid feature.

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Occasional BSOD while shut down (Windows 10)

sounds like some app or device not unloading cleanly

none of your suggestions are relevant if thats true

open blue screen view and look at the top 5 or 10 entries that should give you a idea on what device is mis-behaving

 

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
