Windows 10: Preventing OneDrive From Automatically Saving-Win 11

I have seen many posts on this issue but none of the answers apply to my situation. I only use OneDrive to send audio recordings from my phone to my PC. I have the backup set to off on all folders. Yet I will go in and find that program folders have been created in OneDrive Documents folder. An example would be my Corel Video software. It has been loaded onto my computer for some time. The C Drive has the folder in My Documents. If I access OneDrive, I see that the Corel folder is also in OneDrive. I have to delete it. I will save a spreadsheet onto my PC and then I find it later on OneDrive.

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

 

Utilities that I run can no longer automatically save files to my OneDrive

To set OneDrive as your default location to save your documents and files, follow the below steps.

1. Click on the OneDrive icon from the Taskbar area > Click on the menu button (three-dots) on the top-right corner > Click on
   Settings > Go to the Auto Save tab.
2. Using the drop-down menu, select OneDrive for
   Desktop, Documents, and Pictures and click on
   OK.
3. Once you complete the above steps, restart the computer once and try saving the files generated from utilities and check if it is saving in
   C:\Users\myname\OneDrive\Documents folder.

Disabling Automatic Save of Documents to OneDrive

I followed the instructions for Windows 10: press the Windows key + R, type in gpedit.msc, and went from there. I enabled "Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage", but my documents still automatically save to OneDrive instead of locally on my PC.

I would like to disable the feature of automatically saving documents to OneDrive, and ideally enable it to automatically save to my PC. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
