  1. Preventing the screen from trying to detect my face while it is in sleeping mode

Hello,I will start by saying that I love Windows Hello! Most of the time it is really helpful! What really annoys me is that the camera is always looking for my face, to try unlocking the screen. For example, I just terminate my task at the computer, I put it into sleeping mode I simply press the power button once and I just walk in the room doing other things. In this situation, I really would expect my computer to awake and light the screen only if I physically press a button just random. What happens instead is that the computer only stays in sleeping mode if nobody is moving in front of i

  2. open the desktop from sleep mode

    Hi Abhishek,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft community.

To understand the issue better, I suggest you to answer the below questions.

    • How are trying to start the computer from the sleep mode?
    • Since from when are you facing this issue?
    • Did you make any changes prior to the issue?
    • Are you able to shut down or restart the machine?
    • What happens when you try to come out of Sleep mode?
I would suggest you to force shutdown the computer and start the computer and check what happens.

If you are able to login to normal mode then follow the below steps to restore the power setting/plan to default.

    • Press Windows + X keys, and select the option
      Control Panel.
    • Click on the Power Options icon.
    • Click on Change plan settings.
    • Select the option “Restore default settings for this plan”.
Please post us back with more information and if the issues resolves to help you better.

Problems with Face Recognition after Sleep Mode

Just got my Dell Inspiron 23 Series 7000 All-in-One desktop computer with 23" Touch Screen and Intel 3d RealSense camera. I have activated the Facial Recognition login feature at highest level which seems to work quite well with the 3D camers. However, I have run into a bug. I activated a 30 minute Sleep Mode in the settings. After returning later the screen was blank and moving the mouse brought the screen to life. There was references to Facial Recognition, but the camera was off. There was a message saying that the camera was in Power Save mode and that moving the mouse would release it from this mode. I moved the mouse, a lot. No change. I tried the following:

    1) Clicking on the Enable Facial Recognition Button in the bottom left corner - no result

    2) Clicking on the User ID button in the bottom left corner and then clicking on the Enable Facial Recognition button below it. For a brief moment the camera came on and my face was displayed in the proper location, but then disappeared and I again saw the message about moving the mouse to disable Power Save mode.

    3) I also enabled the Gesture secondary security measure during setup, and since the Grid was displayed, tried entering the gesture. About half way through the gesture, it forgot what I entered and reverted to a blank grid.

    4) I tried clicking on the User ID button in the lower left corner and entered my password. It was apparently not recognized as no login occurred, but no error message about invalid passwords displayed either.

I repeated several of these steps about two more times each, until finally I was able to login using my password.

This would appear to be a major glitch in the code, apparently brought on by Sleep Mode and Power Save modes. Suggest coders look into resolving this. Hopefully they can recreate the issue in the lab.

    sleep mode

    Hi disgruntledWC,

There could be other settings on your computer that triggers your computer to go on sleep even though the sleep settings is set to never. To ensure that the sleep and display settings are properly set, I suggest that you look into the Advanced Power Settings.
    Follow these steps:

    • Open Control Panel and click Power Options.
    • On your preferred plan, click Change plan settings.
    • Click advanced power settings.
    • Expand Sleep option, and make sure to set the following:
    Sleep after : Never

    Hibernate after : Never

    5. Click Apply, then OK.

Please check also the screen saver option.

    • Navigate to Settings > Personalization > Lock screen.
    • Click Screen saver settings.
    • Set your Screen saver to None.
    • Click Apply, then OK.

Once done, please observe if your computer still goes to sleep mode after a few minutes of inactivity.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Regards.
