Windows 10: Preview Handler Surrogate Host

I get an error message every time that I open an Outlook Email and it will not show a preview in the window. I then have to hit OK in 2 separate error message boxes before being able to open another Email. in the error message to open another Outlook email. I reinstalled Office 365 and the problem still exists. I have confirmed that Outlook is the default mail handler and still no change.


The message with a Header Microsoft Office Outlook reads: Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client.


Once u click the OK button, the same message appears a second time. However the header is not highlighted in a blue banner.


I do not know what else to do. Older email messages that have been created by other than Microsoft Office Outlook do not activate any error message.

Can someone help, or should I try to reset the unit back to factory settings and start over. However, I do not want to do this if it results in the same problems once I reinstall Office 365 again.

Preview Handler in C# Winforms

Recently, I have been trying to show a preview for .html, .txt, and .jpg files in my winforms application. I have found the Registry entries under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PreviewHandlers. The Windows TXT Previewer
and Microsoft Windows Mail HTML Preview Handler are located here. When I try to load them into my application with the correct file format, the window shows nothing although I used the correct GUID for the Preview Handlers. My question is, how do I correctly
show the preview handlers with file content in my C# application?

 

Preview pane doesn't work in Windows 10

1. Are you facing issue with all your files or any particular files?
   
2. Which version of Windows you are using?
   
3. Since when are you facing this issue?
   

The Preview pane shows the contents of certain files selected in File Explorer. For images, it is a thumbnail preview.

If you are unable to preview in File explorer, I suggest you to try the below steps.

1. Open a new File Explorer window and click the View tab from the ribbon toolbar.
   
2. Click Options, and then click Change folder and search options to open Folder Options dialog.
   
3. Check the Show preview handlers in preview pane box, and click/tap on OK.​

com surrogate is the host process or COM related objects deleting or renaming it will break stuff or even render the machine unbootable
another but unlikely cause is broken video files causing the thumbnail cache to break if removing the aforementioned doesn't correct it disable thumbnail previews of video files
