Preview pane not working for office, PDF, Coreldraw. Only jpeg file work, I have spent 6 hours. Tried everything I could find on google. Including 8 ways to fix... I use windows 10 Pro

Windows Explorer Preview Pane Stopped Working for PDF Files

I've used the preview pane in Windows Explorer for years to preview several file types. Just last week the preview of PDF files suddenly stopped working. Instead of displaying the contents of the file, it shows a first line in a large font that says the following:
Index of C:\Users\MyName\

Below that is a long list of folders. I haven't changed any settings recently in either Windows or Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, which is my default PDF reader. The preview pane works fine for .eml, .docx and other types of files. Any ideas?

Preview pane not working for documents in windows 10

1.- I know how to use the preview panel in file explorer and its clearly activated as I can preview PDF, image files, etc the only files that doesn't preview are all office files such as word, excel, power point files.

2.- Preview panel works for PDF, Image files and others. When an office file is selected it just stays white.

3.- It have never stop working, the computer is new and I install Office right away and never been able to preview any office file.

4.- All Office files. In particular word files have an additional issue that is that when I try to open a word file I get the message: "Word no pudo crear el archivo de trabajo. Compruebe la variable de entorno temporal. " after I click Accept a couple of
times it works ok.

Preview pane not functional / causing system issues

We can see here that you're having an issue with using the preview pane for File Explorer. Since using the preview pane affects the CPU usage when trying to view Office files, we could suggest that you changed your File Explorer View setting into the Navigation
pane by performing the following steps:

• Open File Explorer.
• Click on the View tab.
• Select Preview pane to remove it from being highlighted.

Once done, try to open files using Office apps and check if this helps your Surface Pro 4 works fine.
