Windows 10: Previous Activation Key won't work on new computer

I had to purchase a replacement computer because my previous one won't start up. I had Microsoft Office installed on my older computer and have the product key. I want to use the product key on my new computer becasue I don't need to purchse Microsoft Office again. It won't accept my product key.

My previous computer stop functioning and I bought a new one. I want to use my previous product key but activation fails

I have a digital license for Windows Pro that was bought a couple months ago.

Now I want to use that digital license and product key in a new computer, as the previous one where that key was activated no longer exists.

I followed all step by step guides but activation keeps saying my product key was used in a previous device.

I do not want to buy a new license. What can I do?

 

Transferring a Windows 10 Product Key to a new computer

You cannot use OEM key to activate other devices. But I have seen cases where in it will activate.

You will have to follow below steps to activate on new device:

Open cmd as admin (on new computer)

Slmgr -upk (enter)

Slmgr -cpky

Slmgr -rilc

Slmgr -ipk XXXXX-XXXX-..... (your pk key)

Slmgr -ato

This should activate on new device. Before purchasing a key I'll suggest you try above steps because I have done in the past and it had worked.
