  1. Previous Hard drive not detected after clean install

I have windows 11, I just bought a 4tb ssd and clean installed windows on it, but when I logged in to the computer after setup it detects all my other drives but the 1tb ssd that had the OS beforeNow, it IS detected in disk manager, but I do not want to format it and loose the 800 GB of info I have in that one, how can I make my system detect it as a normal drive? Last time I moved from HDD to this 1tb ssd, my previous HDD was detected Ok, and I had to clear the other partitions, but IDK what went wrong this time

    :)

  2. Windows 10 clean install unable to detect hard drives

    All,

Trying to install windows 10 on a new computer build. I config the bios and it sees my two HD and the 2 DVD drives. When I try to boot up with the disk from either of the DVD drives, nothing happens. So, I copied the install program to a USB stick
and run the program from there. I can get as far as the "Where do you want to install Windows" screen. There is no place to install windows to. I followed the instructions HERE and
after I type in "list volume" it shows: "Volume 0 C USB30FD FAT32 Removable 31GB Healthy". For some reason it does not show either of the two new/unused HD.

Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Thanks.

  3. Clean Install Workaround for Vista

You may remember this news story on techPowerUp! a couple of days ago relating to the lack of clean installs when using the Upgrade Editions of Vista, which required an old OS to be installed. However, Paul Thurrott has managed to find a workaround for this issue, which ironically lets users do a clean install Vista without any previous version of Windows, albeit a little tedious. Here are the steps:
    • Boot from the Windows Vista Upgrade DVD as normal
    • When prompted for a product code, leave this blank
    • Select the version of Vista you have purchased and let Vista install
    • When you boot to your desktop for the first time, run the Vista setup from Windows
    • This time enter your product key
    • When asked whether you want to do an Upgrade of Custom install, select custom and choose a clean install
    • Windows will now install for a second time and you should be able to activate it
Remember, these steps are only advised for use in order to achieve a clean install of Vista, it is only legal to use the upgrade editions if you have previously purchased the appropriate version of Windows.
