  1. Previous User account not showing up in login screen after making a new user

Recently , I wanted to change the Win10 login screen name but I couldn't find out how to do it. So I made a new user profile with admin privilege with my Microsoft account. I don't know if its local or not but I made it by logging in to Microsoft when asked. After making the user profile , I restart the laptop and the new user profile shows up alongside the old one. I login to the new user profile and everything seemed to be okay but I disliked how it was completely fresh . I didn't want to build my desktop from the ground up and I didn't know how to transfer previous user files. So I wanted to go back to the other user and delete the new one.One restart later theres no mention of the previous user!! It doesn't show the name of the previous user in the login screen. The only option I have is the new user.

I researched quite a lot and saw "Account Unknown" in the user settings with around 70 GB worth of files . I immediately go the /users folder and look for the sizes of the folders. For nowI'll call the previous user 'X' and the new user 'Y' for easier understanding. So , I look at the user Y folder and its size and it matches up at 70 GB. So I can confirmuser X has become "Account Unknown" for some reason and only user Y shows up in the login screen.

I tried making a new user account and it doesn't show up in the login screen as well

I just tried doing a system restore but I had an error saying "can't extract some files from 'rivatuner statistics server' " . You might know this program if you know MSI Afterburner. But I don't know how to fix it.

Anyway I can revert back , restore the user ? or perhaps fix the system restore? maybe transfer all the files from the previous user to the new user? I am very confused and a lot of my school files remain in the previous user which I have no way of properly accessing without going to the User X folder.

I would really appreciate it if you could help me fix this problem. Thank You.

EDIT : The 'copy to' option for account unknown is grayed out.

    :)

    Windows users at login

I cannot see all of my user accounts on the login screen on a new Windows 10 laptop. I have an account for my son and it does not appear as a user on the login screen. It is listed if I display the users with the CMD prompt. The only account I see is my
account which is an admin. His account is a user. All the suggestions I've seen are not available on home edition.

  4. Previous User account not showing up in login screen after making a new user

    User accounts / login screen

Hello, I have two issues and I suspect they are related.

    I am using Windows 10 version 1909.

Ultimately, I want to disable the login screen when starting windows.

I have unchecked the box that asks for a password under netplwiz, and unchecked the box for password login under power and sleep settings.

I am still asked to login when I start windows. I suspect this is because there are two user accounts.

One user account is just user, which is what I use. The other is my name, John, which I must have set up when I was installing windows and I don't remember the password for.

I tried to delete the John account so it would just login automatically to the user account, but when I go under user accounts after typing in systempropertiesadvanced under the run command, I don't see this "John" account.

So in short, I have done all the things that a simple google search would suggest for me to disable the logon screen following a restart, but to no avail. I suspect this is because of a second user account for which I don't know the password, but I can't seem to find this account anywhere to delete it.

Any suggestions? Thank you for your time!
