Windows 10: Previous Word files not accessible upon upgrade to Windows 11.

Hi, I went from Windows10 on my hard drive to Windows 11 in the cloud. Now when I access my previous Word files they come up in Word Pad only. So Microsoft has removed my ability to modify my previous files using all the rich features of Word. I can now create new files in Word and that is not a problem. Microsoft, I am NOT a happy camper. Can anyone let me know what I can do to to retrieve my files in Word? I would be grateful for any assistance offered. Many thanks in anticipation,Patrick

I would appreciate if you could answer few questions to narrow down to the issue.

1. Was it an upgrade or update?

2. When you say Word, is it Microsoft word or word pad?

3. Which version of Microsoft Word are you using?

4. Which was the previous Operating system installed on the computer?

If you had performed an upgrade, I suggest you to check Windows .Old folder for the missing documents.

Windows. Old folder will be located in This PC > access the drive where Operating System has been installed, there you would be able to locate Windows. Old folder.

I cannot open any of my Office files; Word, Excel, Powerpoint

I am working in Windows 10 home version 1909.
Can not afford an upgrade.
My Office files are old, dont know what version.
Cant remember how I updated this laptop to Windows 10 months ago.
PROBLEM:
I can not open any of my Office files; Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
I looked for my Windows old file as suggested, and it IS gone.
Haveing a small breakdown, will step away and return in a few...ANY DIRECTIONS AND ANSWERS WOULD BE GREAT!!!!!! PLEASE WRITE THEM IN STEP BY STEP FORMAT. Thankyooouuuuuuuu!

 

Upgrade to Windows 11

I want to upgrade my OS from Windows 10 to Windows 11. I have run the compatibility software and got the message that says my Windows 10 software is not compatible with upgrading to Windows 11. I'm looking for a point & click application that will make my Windows 10 OS upgradable to Windows 11 or a file that will provide step-by-step instructions on how to accomplish the upgrade to Windows 11. I expect a list of files/applications that will not run in Windows 11 because my PC is not capable of running the new applications w/o hardware upgrades.
