Windows 10: Previously working WSL2 "is not supported with your current machine configuration"

Hi I have WSL2 installed on my W10 machine. It was working fine as of last week. Now when I try to start it I get an error:WSL2 is not supported with your current machine configuration. Please enable the "Virtual Machine Platform" optional component and ensure virtualization is enabled in the BIOS. For information please visit https://aka.ms/enablevirtualization Error code: Wsl/Service/CreateInstance/CreateVm/0x80370102I have ensured the Hyper-V is enabled, and have tried turning Windows Subsystem for Linux off then back on again with reboots in between. This has not helped. Obviously no BIOS

WSL2 Stopped Working

WSL stopped working today when I started up my machine. I get the following error:

I have checked my BIOS and virtualization is enabled. I have tried removing the Virtual Machine Platform from Windows and reinstalling it, which has not worked. Vmware Workstation still works. Hyper-V is disabled and has been so previously.

I am running Windows 11 on a Lenovo P1 with an intel i9 and 32 gigs ram. I've only had this machine for about 2 weeks so hardly anything is installed on it. I was running Ubuntu and Kali via WSL2 with no problems until today.

Please let me know if you have any ideas.

 

WSL2 for windows

I have failed into installing WSL for Windows. I have read here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win.../install-win10 how to do it, and at step 4:

1. Download the latest package:
   
   • WSL2 Linux kernel update package for x64 machines
   [COLOR=var(--text)][COLOR=var(--info-dark)] Note[/COLOR]
   If you're using an ARM64 machine, please download the ARM64 package instead. If you're not sure what kind of machine you have, open Command Prompt or PowerShell and enter: systeminfo | find "System Type".

2. Run the update package downloaded in the previous step. (Double-click to run - you will be prompted for elevated permissions, select ‘yes’ to approve this installation.)

I am unable to start wsl with the following error:

however, i do have virtualization enabled in BIOS as well as Virtual Machine Platform installed.

for testing, i installed an ubuntu in virtualbox and it is working
