    My music is all in a folder I have called Music. It comprises songs by one artist and compilation albums.


    How can i print a list of all the songs I have in my Music folder?

    Printing list in File Explorer

    I simply want to print out a list under a file name recorded in File Explorer eg a list of file titles in Program Files (X86)? I am operating under Windows 10 and can list all files on C: but cannot print out the list of files. Any advice?

    Hi Rob

    Open that folder in File Explorer

    In the address bar, type cmd and hit Enter

    That will open a command prompt window on that folder

    If you want a full list of files, including sub folders, paste this into Command Prompt and hit Enter:

    dir /s/b >AAA.txt

    If you just want to print a list of files in that folder itself, paste this into Command Prompt and hit Enter:

    dir /b >AAA.txt

    Once the command has completed, there will be a new text file in that folder (AAA.txt) which will contain the list of files, which you can print or copy and paste into Word, Excel . . etc.

    I want to print list of files in a Windows10 Folder. Instructions from 2015 post in MS Community are as follows:

    Open a command prompt.

    Navigate to the folder using the command "cd".

    Type dir>file.txt where "file.txt" is a name you want to call the file.

    When I open command prompt I get PS c:\users\harry

    When I type cd, which supposedly permits navigating to folder, I only get a repeat of "PS c:\users\harry"

    When I type dir>file.txt (as above), I get "not recognized"

    Please tell me why the above commands are not working! very frustrating!!

    PS: referring to my statement "When I type dir>file.txt (as above), I get "not recognized", file.txt represents the name of the txt file I want to create (i.e. a file listing all file names withing selected folder.
