Windows 10: Print Preview is back - use HP OJP 8500 driver on other models, like 8600 or 9015

Which HP OJP printers had "Print Preview"? My new 9015 does not.

Which HP OfficeJetPro printers have software/drivers with "Print Preview"? My now-broken OJP 8500 did, but an OJP 8600 and an OJP 9015 do not.

Which other OJP models come with software that has "Print Preview"?

Do you know what "Print Preview" is? It's an option on the second tab of Printing Preferences that, when you hit Print on anything, opens a separate subwindow to show you what it is about to print, and you can cancel if it's the wrong selection. Saves time, paper, ink, money and frustration. No wonder HP killed it.

Well, what models had it?

I ask because I want to try those drivers in my installation of my new OJP 9015. My old OJP 8500 kicked the bucket, and I miss "Print Preview" very badly.

I got good preliminary steps from advisor RobinsonSilvestre but had to add a step. I needed to download the "Basic Drivers" for that HP printer NOT for Win 10 but for Win 7 Pro 64-bit, from this HP page:

but NOT install that download from HP. Instead, I used 7-zip to Expand that .exe from HP to a folder, and then I used MS's "Have Disk" to point at that folder. MS's "Install the Printer Drive" window then worked beautifully to add the HP 8500 printer to my list of Printers, pointing to the local 192.168.1.xxx IP address for the printer, I designated that as the default printer, and now I am using that HP 8500 app for a different model HP printer, the 8600 and getting all the benefits or Print Preview and saving print presets for "Draft".

Just to repeat what RobinaonsSilvestre suggested - here it is - I added my step above between Silvestre's 9 and 10:, and then after 10 I hit "Have Disk" and pointed it to my new folder with the expansion of the Basic Driver (Win 7 64-bit) from HP

You can install the printer manually using the Windows Update drive without the need to connect the printer.
1-Right-Click on Start and click on Run
2-Type: Control Panel and click on Ok
3-Click on "Hardware and Sound" then click on "Devices and Printers"
4-Click on "Add a Printer", and select the option "The printer that I want isn't listed"
5-Select the last option "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings" and click on Next
6-Select the port that you will connect the printer or select "Create a new port" > "Standart TCP/IP port" if the printer is using the network connection
7-Type the printer IP address and click on next
8-Then will open the window "Install the printer driver", click on the button "Windows Update"
9-This process will take a while 5-10 minutes, then you will be to see all manufacturers
10-In the manufacturer list select the HP, then select in the printers "HP Officejet Pro 8500
11-Click on next to finish the installation

 

Looking for drivers for HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 A909g to be used on Win 10 Pro 64-bit

Joe and Robinson - it seems that HP's and your suggestion is to connect (via USB cable) the OfficeJetPro 8500 A909g to the Win 10 PC and let the Win 10 PC take the needed drivers from the 8500. Do I have that right?

Unfortunately, I need the 8500 driver set for Win 10 without being able to make that USB connection.

(Confession - the 8500 is gone, we now have an 8600, but the older 8500 driver-firmware and properties-preferences app is much, much better than the 8600's. And I know how to set the 8500 driver-firmware and properties-preferences app to point to the physical 8600 printer. on our small network )

1) So - is there any way to get the 8500 driver set from somewhere to install on a Win 10 PC without the two devices being physically connected?

2) Can the 8500 driver set for Win 7 (or maybe 8) be installed on Win 10 and then work normally?
