  1. Print spooler needs to be reset everytime I turn on computer

I am using a Lenovo T450s running a dual boot of Ubuntu and Windows 1909. I just got a new printer, the HP Envy 5055. I setup the computer using HP's app on my phone and it worked great - successfully printed an item off my phone with no problems. Then I installed the HP Smart app on my computer. As soon as my computer was connected to the printer, it started printing out about one page per minute, a single page with a single letter "D" on the top left corner.

During a lot of time on the phone with HP, we tried several things:

    1. Rebooting computer, printer

    2. Resetting up the printer manually no apps

    3. Resetting my wifi password in case someone else was trying to print on my network

    3. Updating my windows version previously I was running 1809

    4. Uninstalling the HP Smart app on my computer and deleting the printer and driver from my devices/drivers

None of those worked. We isolated the problem down to this:

My computer was the device sending this print command. I have since closed my HP case, since the new printer is working great - its my computer that's mucking things up.

I followed the steps in this community question:

    1. Running the troubleshooter

    2. Deleting files in the folder including hidden files

Those didn't do anything, but I did restart my print spooler:

    1. Once I restarted the print spooler, it worked fine - no more printing random "D"s, and I was able to print other things normally from my computer.

    2. If I restarted the computer, the problem reverted and I had to "restart" the spooler again.

So my question is, I don't want to have to restart my print spooler every time I power cycle my computer. How do I get this to stop happening?

    :)

  2. Documents Disappear in Print Spooler before printing

    Hi David,

There are different factors that can contribute as to why you're not able to print documents on a wireless printer that other computer can use to print. This could be caused by outdated device drivers or the
print spooler that temporarily stores print jobs on the computer needs to be reset

Since you are still not able to print documents after you completing different troubleshooting steps, we suggest that you follow the steps to

clear and reset the print spooler
to resolve your concern. This will allow you to restart the
print spooler service that manages the printing process in your computer.

We look forward to your response after you complete the steps.

  3. print spooler

Hi harley707. I'm here to help.

Try these steps. (I will leave a link to the video I found these steps in at the bottom of this reply. The website is not a Microsoft website.)

    1. Right-click the lower left corner of the computer screen to open the menu.

    2. Click Search and type "services" and press "View local services".

    3. Scroll down the list until you find "Print Spooler".

    4. Right click "Print Spooler" and press Restart.

    The Print Spooler will restart.

If your printer spooler will not restart, you might have to restart your computer.

    Thanks.
