Windows 10: Printer Connected Via USB - Win 10 Still Can't Find Printer

THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM.I KEEP HAVING TO REINSTALL MY HP OFFICEJET 5255 PRINTER -AND ALWAYS GET THE NOTIFICATION 'USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED' IN MY 'DEVICES AND PRINTERS' JUST BEFORE THE THE PRINTER SOFTWARE FAILS, AND HAS TO BE REINSTALLED. THE PRINTER NEVER PRINTS MORE THAN A DAY OR TWO BEFORE THE 'USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED' NOTICE POPS UP. BEEN GOING ON EVER SINCE I INSTALLED WIN 10. NO PROBLEM BEFORE. THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH HP SOFTWARE. WHEN IT INSTALLS IT WORKS, BUT THEN WIN 10 STARTS CAUSING PROBLEMS.

Mac OSX USB printer problem

OK i just bought the Canon IP4500 usb printer and installed it on the mac following hte instructions to the letter.

No printer is found and i cannot add it in the Printer list, cause theres no option for USB printer installation, only Appletalk, Bluetooth, and Windows Printing.

I have downloaded the latest drivers etc... but no luck *Bang Head :banghead:

As it is i dont like macs but now with a simple thing as this i dislike them even more.

Last resort is trying installing the printer on a Vista pc and see if it works, if it does then the mac is up to shit, if it does not install then the printer is up to shit.

Anyone had a similar problem maybe and how did you overcome it?

First, I would suggest installing the actual driver package from Brother. While the printer may work with the fairly generic drivers that come with Windows 10, I've always found that I get better results from the actual Brother drivers.

I have a rather old Brother printer so the exact steps may be a bit different from yours, but in my case when I install the drivers it will search the network for available printers and allow me to specify the printer that it finds. If it does not find a printer, it may ask you to initially setup the printer via a direct connection (USB), and then configure the printer for network use (WiFi).

In any case, the installation wizard should guide you through the steps.

• Power off, and then power on your printer to restart it. Wait for a while for it to be fully ready.
