  1. Printer Defaults to WSD Port and Indicates No Ink

Hello,I have an HP Envy 5530 printer scanner. I am unbale to print because the printer indicates low/no ink, however both ink cartridges are full. I am able to resolve the issue if I change the printer port from WSD port to TCP/IP port. However, even if I select "apply" to the changes, the printer will go back to the default WSD port setting. After doing some research, I stumbled across an explanation the WSD driver could be outdated or corrupted. This leads me to a few questionsPrinter Defaults to WSD Port and Indicates No Ink :Does this seem like a correct answer? If so, can I simple install a new version of the WSD driver?Where should I

    :)

Win 10 keeps changing my printer static IP port to WSD, already turned off windows printer management

Have seen this problem on a few machines. WSD takes over as the default port from a port based on a static IP. When someone prints there are no errors except the printer prints nothing. Best advice I have seen for manually added printers is:

Control Panel -> Device and Printers -> Add A Printer -> The Printer I want isn't listed -> Add a printer using a TCP/IP address... -> change "Device Type:" from default "AutoDetect" to "TCP/IP Device".

That key last step may prevent the dreaded WSD port being added as an available port. Enter the IP and continue the installation. I tried adding an existing printer twice, one with AutoDetect and one with TCP/IP Device. The AutoDetect install showed up
as WDS, and the TCP/IP install showed up with static IP in the port and no available WDS ports listed.

Hopefully that method works for most cases.

How to stop WSD port duplicate printers

Is there a way - on the Windows side of things - to stop duplicate printers, the second instance is on the WSD port, from being installed in Devices and Printers? Windows 10 Pro 21H1

I've checked the settings on the printers but can't find a toggle for WSD discovery there.

If I remove these WSD printers they just become "Unknown Devices" and then get reinstalled in about an hour.

    Printer Ports

Samsung laser printer was working fine until today when a message flashed up along the lines of "printer port disabled/reconfigured. do you wish to use a valid port?" (may not be word for word). Clicked yes and tried again. Now, when I print, there is
a pop-up box indicating there is a problem with the port but the printer works anyway. On checking the ports, the printer is allocated to WSD port but I am sure it was previously set up on the TCP/IP port and the printer IP address is still showing on that
port's detail. Tried changing the printer to the TCP port but a box popped up saying problem with printer - check cable etc etc. Went back to control panel to find printer no longer set as default but another printer icon had appeared with same ref. no.
Looked at the printer properties for this and changed back to WSD port. That icon disappeared, original printer icon now showing as default again and with WSD as the allocated port. So, I can print but was it the last Windows update that caused the ports
    to reconfigure/reallocate?
