Windows 10: Printer disappeared after Win 11 update 4/14/2022

I have a HP Laser jet printer Model MFP M281fdw. I was able to print without issue on April 13, 2022. On April 14, 2022 I downloaded the most recent updates. Today I was not able to print, I went to the devices to trouble and there were no printers listed. I have had this printer and computer for 2 years without any issues even after upgrading to windows 11 I have tried uninstall and reinstalling the driver without success. I have tried "Add device" under printers and the application just hangs. The same thing happened when I try to print. Other than spending another $400.00 dollars fo

But it does ask you to connect the printer

Step Two
11. Connect the USB cable to the product, and connect the USB cable to the computer. A Device driver software was not successfully installed window opens.

Step three:
3. Click the drop down menu, and then change the port from LPT1 to USB or DOT4.virtual

If you connect the printer in Step two #11 then maybe when you get to Step three #3 there will be USB port in the list.

 

Network printer disappeared after windows 10 update

After doing the latest update of windows 10, for some reason one of my network printers has disappeared. I am still able to print on the other 2 network printers that I have installed, but the 3rd one is missing. When I try to go add it again it doesn't
show up in the suggested list after going into add a device from the device and printers menu. And for some reason now it doesn't give me the option to even select "the printer I want inst listed".

Any thoughts?

Printer driver unavailable after printer install in windows 10

Hi,

I would suggest reinstalling the printer's legacy drivers.

Here are the complete steps to do so,

1. Press Windows+R and type in control printers

2. Right click the printer with the issue and choose properties

3. Go to the web services tab, save and copy the IP address under troubleshooting information as a reference to the printer's IP address

4. Close the window and right click the same printer

5. Choose to remove device

6. Go to start/search and type in hdwwiz.exe and open the application

7. Choose the option "Install the hardware that I manually select from a list

8. Locate printer and choose next

9. Choose to create a new port and choose standard tcp/ip port

10. On the hostname type in the IP address from the printer that you've saved from step 3

11. Choose the option "Replace the current driver"

12. Choose printer name

13. Choose the option "Share this printer so that others on your network can find and use it.

14. Let the printer install for 5 minutes
