Windows 10: Printer Drivers unavailable after 5/13/2020 windows update

I had a windows update on 5/13/2020....i didn't get around to restarting my computer till the 5/15/2020. When I finally restarted my computer almost all my printer had driver issues. My older printer and my Adobe where the only ones not affected. Even my "Microsoft Printer to PDF", "OneNote for Windows 10", Microsoft XP documents", a Lexmark printer, and a new HP printer now all have either "Driver unavailable" or in the case of the Microsoft and OneNote it states printer driver is not install on this computer. All of these were working just fine up until the new update.


My IT guy has tried everything to at least get my HP printer back with no luck. It only installs the Scanner and Fax mode of the printer. My coworker has a new computer with windows 10 and it took me 2 mins to install the HP printer on her computer. And it took me that long to originally install it the first time. My IT guy was able to get the Lexmark working but it still throws a "communication error" after every print but it is printing.


I removed the "OneNote for Windows 10" printer and have since tried to reinstall and it doesn't show up in the list and even when I click window update to find it in the list it is still not there.


I am out of options here.

Printer driver unavailable after printer install in windows 10

Hi,

I would suggest reinstalling the printer's legacy drivers.

Here are the complete steps to do so,

1. Press Windows+R and type in control printers

2. Right click the printer with the issue and choose properties

3. Go to the web services tab, save and copy the IP address under troubleshooting information as a reference to the printer's IP address

4. Close the window and right click the same printer

5. Choose to remove device

6. Go to start/search and type in hdwwiz.exe and open the application

7. Choose the option "Install the hardware that I manually select from a list

8. Locate printer and choose next

9. Choose to create a new port and choose standard tcp/ip port

10. On the hostname type in the IP address from the printer that you've saved from step 3

11. Choose the option "Replace the current driver"

12. Choose printer name

13. Choose the option "Share this printer so that others on your network can find and use it.

14. Let the printer install for 5 minutes

• How exactly did you try to download the drivers?
• Did you try to check if the printer driver's are shown in the device manager?

Let's try the following steps and check if it helps:

Step 1: Run Hardware and device Troubleshooter.

• Type troubleshooting in the search bar and select it.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click Hardware and device
  troubleshooter.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.
• Check if issue persists.

Step 2: I suggest you to visit the manufacturer website of the printer and download and install the latest drivers and check if it helps.

Printer driver unavailable

Hi,

This issue usually occurs if the drivers are incompatible or the driver is not up to date. What I can suggest is to have your printer driver updated. Kindly follow the instructions from our community given by
