Windows 10: printer duplicated -printer vs print queues

I have a strange issue that just happened. I went to print a shipping label only to see that it didn't print, yet I saw it in my print queue. After some digging, it seems that my label printer was duplicated in windows 10. So I now have labelprinter and labelprinter copy 1The job was sent to the original. but it seems that the original isn't actually associated with any hardware anymore, as when I unplugged power to the printer, copy 1 dimmed while the original one did not. I deleted both printers, rebooted and added again and now it appears as copy 1. I can print to this printer now if I re

Error - Printing on Network printer

We have 4 printers on our Windows print server. The server was migrated from win2k3 to 2k8 on friday. 3/4 printers are working great, the other is having issues. When trying to print a test page to it, it gets a job status of Error - Printing.

When sending a small word document to it, it sends it to the printer, the queue is empty but nothing prints. If I goto the printer itself, it doesnt show any errors and I can print things such as information sheets and diagnostic files just fine.

All four printers are the same model, all 4 have a static IP. I can ping the printer successfully. I've tried printing from both an XP machine and the print server itself. I tried removing and adding the printer on the print server. And lastly, uunplugged the printer for 30 seconds, plugged it back in.

Any ideas?

 

Removed printer, name still appears with print queue inside

Recently I have added a printer, sent a print command but did not go through. So I have removed the printer, and may be the print queue was in it still. Now the printer name do not appear in Device and Printers list but when I want to print something from
Office applications, I still see the name on the drop down menu and the name shows that the queue is still inside.

Can anyone suggest how I can get rid of the name and the queue?

 

automatically adds duplicate printer copy

I have encountered an issue on Windows 10.

I have an older printer which works fine on initial setup. Prints and is set to default

• MY_BEST_Printer

The issue comes in when I unplug the USB cable and after some time plug, it back in it adds a new duplicate copy of the same printer.

• MY_BEST_Printer (Copy 1)

This new duplicated printer is not set to default, so obviously, it does not send print file to the same queue pool and it does not get printed.

And if I keep plugging and unplugging it keeps adding new duplicates.

• MY_BEST_Printer Default

• MY_BEST_Printer (Copy 1)

• MY_BEST_Printer (Copy 2)

Is there a way to stop Windows 10 from adding the same printer as a duplicate if it sees that it is the same printer?
