Windows 10: Printer issues after Microsoft updates

Good day! Please bare with me! I am an older gentleman on a fixed income who has to do online printing in relation to earning supplemental income on line. I own a Compaq desk top computer and a faithful Brother FMC-240C printer. During the past few months , and after an occasional Windows update, I have experienced printer issues with printing jobs , which I was able to eventually print. Finally , about 10 days ago, and after a Windows update, I was not able to send printing jobs from the computer to the printer. The jobs would go into the queue box , and within a few seconds , disappear!

Unfortunately, I had no restore points set up for this computer which I could have used to go back at least a couple week in order to see if print jobs would again respond. I have already tried all the Windows fix tools, as well as look for printer driver updates I even tried a different printer and different ports. Same thing! I'm reading other peoples comments about having similar issues that they suspect are faulty spooler service updates.

I am not trained as a computer technician, so I have very little confidence as a "surgeon", to go into my computer in order to do any multi step changes , if that's what it would take.

My question to the community and to Microsoft is if Microsoft is working on this issue and if anyone out there knows of a "kinder , gentiler " fix to this printing issue ? I may break down and buy a new printer, but I don't believe that's going to fix the issues of sending jobs to the printer.

• What is the make and model of your device?
• How is the printer connected to the computer, locally or through network?
• Have you tried any troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue?

I suggest you to try the below and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to update the drivers for printer and check.

• 
  Right click on the Start button from the desktop and select
  Device Manager.
  
• 
  Locate and expand Print queue.
  
• 
  Right-click on the printer driver
  that is listed and click Update driver software.
  

Step 2: I suggest you to run the printer troubleshooter from
“Fix printer problems”
and then check if this fixes the issue.

• Is it a wired or wireless printer?
• Is the printer connected via network to your computer?

I suggest you to make printer as a default printer you can follow the below steps:

• Press Windows key+ X and select
  device manager.
• Select devices and printers
• Right click on the printer you want to use, and then click
  set as default printer (You'll see a check mark on the printer's icon signifying that it's now your default printer).

I suggest you to update the drivers for the printers and check if it helps.

I also recommend you to run the print troubleshooter to check the issue.
