Windows 10: Printer not talking to laptop since update KB 5048685

The update was downloaded on 12 December and it knocked out the printer from the laptop completely. We reinstalled the Wi-Fi printer Canon MG5751 and downloaded new drivers etc but we’re unable to get the devices talking to each other. Does anyone have any ideas as what we should do? There is no error code only a message to say there is an error printing.

To be sure that you followed my suggestion correctly, I will specify some steps: CP>devices and printers>add a printer>the printer that I want isn't listed>add a local printer with manual settings>define port>Windows update and install

 

I had a power cut and my laptop will not talk to my Epsom printer via the wireless connection but my desk top will.

• Have you tried to add the printer in your laptop again?

• What is the make and model of your device?
• How is the printer connected to the computer, locally or through network?
• Have you tried any troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue?

I suggest you to try the below and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to update the drivers for printer and check.

• 
  Right click on the Start button from the desktop and select
  Device Manager.
  
• 
  Locate and expand Print queue.
  
• 
  Right-click on the printer driver
  that is listed and click Update driver software.
  

Step 2: I suggest you to run the printer troubleshooter from
“Fix printer problems”
and then check if this fixes the issue.
