Windows 10: Printer Spooler Stops running after update

Hello,I am having an issue with the printer spooler. After updating windows 10, the printer spooler stops running. This has been happening for a couple of years now, and what we had done is to go back to an earlier version. Now windows wants to update every other day. After updating, we try to start the spooler, but when trying to print it stops running. Also, the printers show that they have not driver and installing the driver does not work. Recently we did the latest update with windows update assistant thinking is was an older update creating the problem but it did not work. Anything we ca

Print Spooler Running Constantly

Win10 v1903 with all updates. HP ENVY 6255 Printer - wireless access from 2 other PCs, wired access from this PC.
There is a long story about why this PC is connected to the printer via USB rather than wireless. Don't really want to revisit that issue. It's here No printer driver after upgrade to Win V1903 Closed 3 weeks ago.

Printer is working fine but today (10/29/19) the spooler (spoolsv.exe) decided to run all the time using 13% of the CPU (maybe other resources too but the CPU use is the biggie). I have stopped and restarted the spooler - no joy. I have rebooted the PC - no joy. I have applied the Reset and Clear Print Spooler (a tutorial on this site) - no joy.

Suggestions what to look for?

The constantly running print spooler is a pain. I have to stop it and then restart it whenever I want to print. Grrrr.......

 

Printer Spooler running but not found by Add printer

As you are facing issues with connecting the printer, do let us know the following to assist you better:

• Were you able to successfully restart the Print Spooler Service?
• How have you connected the printer to your device?
• What is the make and model of your printer device?
• Are you trying to print any PDF file via Adobe PDF ?

I suggest you to uninstall and re-install the printer drivers and check.

Steps to remove printer drivers from Device manager:

• Press Windows + R keys from the keyboard to open
  Run command.
• Type devmgmt.msc in Run window to open
  Device Manager window.
• Under Print queues, right click on the printer and
  uninstall.

Try to install the right drivers for the Printer from the Manufacturer’s website.

Print Spooler Service Stopping

Drugged up on Pain Med's, exhausted from barely any sleep for four days and trying to type on a iPhnone. The USB driver and queue can end up stalling. Have you checked the print queue to see if there are jobs stalled or in the Print Spooler folder? Also grab the Process Explorer by Sysinternals from Microsoft.com. It will allow you to see the Sub Process, especially under the System process. See the following:

Clear Printer Spooler Files

• Click Start, type Services.msc in Search box or Click WIN+Q, type “Services.msc” in the open box.
• Services can be found under Computer Management on older operation system (Windows XP)
• Double-click Printer Spooler in the list.
• Click Stop and click OK.
• Open C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS.
