Windows 10: Printer stopped printing and scanning

I have a Brother DCP-J315W printer wi-fi connect very old. It was printing ok up until this morning. But when I tried a scan it would not scan. There is no communication between printer and scanner. And since I ran the troubleshooter which could not fix the issue and also changed the device driver to Brother made printer the default in lieu of windows driver the print function no longer works. Changed back to windows driver and same result. Zero communication. However a print queue loads up and when I restart the computer all the print queue prints up ok. Computer is a Dell XPS 8940. I d

Print to PDF missing in Printer List

Hi William,

We suggest that you disable and re-enable the Print to PDF feature. Here are the steps:

• Click on the Start menu and type in Windows Features.
• Choose Turn Windows features on or off.
• On the next window, find Microsoft Print to PDF and disable it. Click
  OK to save changes.
• Restart your PC.
• Repeat the same steps to re-enable Microsoft Print to PDF.

Printer will not print

1. What is the make and model number of your computer?
2. Are you getting any error message while trying to print any document?
3. When printing a document, are you able to see the name of the printer?

Method 2: HP Print and Scan Doctor.

You can try and run the
HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool and fix the printing and scanning problems with your HP Printer.

Method 3: Uninstalling and Reinstalling the Printer Drivers.

If the above 2 methods didn't work, then we need to completely uninstall the printer drivers and then install the latest drivers from the manufacturers website.

Step 1: Disconnect the printer from your computer.

Step 2: Press the 'Windows' key and the 'R' key from your keyboard and type 'Devmgmt.msc' and hit Enter.

Step 3: Now, locate for Printer section and
Uninstall all the printer drivers listed under Printer section by
Right Clicking on the drivers (Restart the PC once after uninstalling the drivers).

Step 4: Now, follow the Steps mentioned in
Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver to setup your printer.
