Windows 10: Printer won't print after installing Windows 10

After I installed windows 10 my printer won't print. It shoots out the paper but it is blank. I checked and all the drivers are up too date. I use a Canon MX860 All in one. It worked fine on Vista, 7 & 8. Thanks Russ.

HP 1012 printer doesn't print after windows 10 upgrade.

My hp 1012 printer won't print after installing my windows 10 upgrade. My pc had windows 8.1 and I had tricked it with the hp3055 pcl5 drivers to make the printer work which windows 10 still recognizes. It just says error and the printer does nothing
when trying to print a test page. Any ideas?

 

I checked Canon's site there is no Windows 10 driver. Ignore the message that "this printer is not compatible with Windows 10" and download the Windows 8 driver instead. I would first uninstall everything relative to the printer, just in case there is a conflict between different driver versions. Then disconnect the printer and restart the computer. At this point it would be as I install the printer for the first time, so it should work. The rule says that you first start the setup program and connect the printer ONLY WHEN ASKED. If you connect it earlier it may not install all the drivers properly! So begin the setup and wait until you see a message to connect the printer and switch it on. At this point connect the printer and the installation should continue without any issues. Print a test page just to make sure.

PS: If uninstalling the printer software isn't enough, you may also have to manually delete all printer instances from Control Panel, Devices and Printers. If asked about also deleting the driver files, answer yes. Then you can go to Control Panel, Device Manager and see if there is the printer there or any device with yellow question mark relative to the printer. Delete it also. While in Device Manager, select "Show Hidden Devices" from the View menu. This will reveal the print queues. Delete any print queue relating to the printer. Restart your computer and it should be as it never knew about this printer. So there should be no conflict with previous drivers and should install OK. You may have to start installation in Windows 8 compatibility mode. Right click on the installer, select Properties, Compatibility and set it to Windows 8 compatibility. It's a good idea to also enable Administrator rights to make things easier.
