Windows 10: Pro Intellimouse randomly stops functioning unless replugged

Hi,


I have the exact same problem as this person here:

I generally love this mouse. I used the original for many years and just bought this brand new one two months ago, I believe it's an official remake of the classic, which I always wished for.


I have a Win10 PC. As the person in the thread above mentioned, I can work-around the problem by replugging into a different usb slot, but then it happened again the next day. So this happened with not just one USB slot.

The Pro Intellimouse I received recently sometimes randomly stops functioning.


When it stops functioning, I cannot:

- move the mouse cursor

- use the left or right buttons


When it stops functioning

- Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center still detects the mouse and the settings such as tailight can still be changed

- there is still a dim red light within the sensor


I have already

- rebooted multiple times


Workarounds

- replug the mouse


Is there any way that this issue can be solved?

only one of the pointing devices which was the Pro Intellimouse had the power management tab, and the "allow computer to turn off this device to save power is greyed out

I understand that you are facing issues while using the mouse on your PC as it stops working suddenly. I certainly appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue.



One of the things you can try is to change the power management settings for the mouse and see if that helps.

1. Press Windows key + R. This will open
   Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for Run.
   
2. In Run dialog box, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.
   
3. Now expand Mice and other pointing devices.
   
4. Right click on HID compliant mouse
   or PS/2 mouse and select Properties
   
5. Select the Power Management tab
   
6. Uncheck the box next to Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
   
7. Click on OK.
