Probable Malware That Windows Defender Isn't Finding

Hi, All:Old fart, and not very computer literate. I am getting popups in the lower right on my screen saying I have viruses and/or trojans. They won't go away. I click "close" and they pop right back up. One says it is from Google Chrome, and the other says it is from McAfee. I wish I could post a screenshot here. I have run a scan with Windows Defender and it says I'm fine. I have not clicked on the "scan" or "remove viruses" button on either of them because I am certain they are malware. Is there anything I can do to stop these things? I have Adblock, but it doesn't seem to stop them

    :)

  2. Windows Defender Fails Malware Test

Microsoft’s very own antivirus software, Windows Live OneCare, was recently found to be failing Vista users, and now the same has been discovered for its free anti-spyware application. In tests carried out by Australian company Enex Testlab, Windows Defender struggled to detect just half of the malware which it was tested with, with the quick scan finding missing most of the malware and the full scan finding only 53.3%. It would be best to note that the test was financed by competing company PC Tools, which claims the test was unbiased, although the winning software (detecting 88.7% of malware) was PC Tools’ very own Spyware Doctor. Windows Defender was released as a final version in October 2006, so it is relatively new and of course (being free) costs less than Spyware Doctor.

  4. Probable Malware That Windows Defender Isn't Finding

Printer isn´t working after latest update.

After the latest update from Windows, my Canon Pixma ip6600 printer isnt working. In Device Manager it shows up as working properly but when I go to print it isn´t listed as an option in any programs. Troubleshoot suggests it´s a USB 2 printer on a USB
3 port and that that´s the problem but that cant be since it worked fine before the update. I´ve tried to uninstall and plug it back in but that doesn´t work either.
