Windows 10: Problem Activating Office 2019

I've tried this in the msoffice forum and it just sits there... I have a Product ID (the 25 character thing) for Office 2019 Pro. It's been running on a laptop for OVER two YEARS. Worked fine. I recently had to re-install Windows 10 Pro on the laptop. I then took the file I had for the Product key and downloaded Office 2019. It worked EXACTLY the way it did when I originally downloaded it. EXCEPT. I can't activate it. I tried doing the "activate over Internet" and it said it wasn't valid. But it IS valid - it's been in use for years. So I tried over the phone. It wanted wanted me to enter some HUGE bunch of numbers. There was a bunch of groups of numbers (9 groups) that I THINK it wanted me to enter, but the groups of numbers had 7 digits each and the boxes would only take 6 digits. Couldn't get the 7-digit groups of numbers into the 6-space boxes, and I couldn't find ANY way to get to a human being, and the automated system disconnected. Went back to the product and skipped the "activate over Internet" and did the "Enter the Product Key". Copied and pasted it right from the download file, idiot-proof and exactly what's been in use for 2 years, and it STILL says it's invalid. HOW do I get this software activated? I KNOW the Product ID worked originally - this can't POSSIBLY be this hard. What am I doing wrong?
