Windows 10: problem booting screen , black screen while starting no cursor . multiple times shutting...

i am facing problem with my laptop while booting it , when i press the power button; the laptop starts ; but, there is black screen; no start up screen and no cursor , i have to press force shut multiple times and press on ; then the screen appears of starting up . Why is it happening ; it didnt happen with me before ; recently there was an update in quality update . Is it because of it ? Please suggest what is the cause of the problem and what is the remedy .

Sounds like the old... windows black screen of death.

Black screen and cursor problem

When I turn on the PC, since Nov 23, the cursor is attached to a black screen. So when I move the cursor from bottom to top then a black surface covers the screen below the cursor. The issue is not there when using keyboard navigation.

I'm able to re-start in Safe Mode.

Also able to get this state: After the third time, Windows will boot into diagnostics mode.

 

Black Screen solveed definitively

I have this same issue. Windows 10 was installed and was working fine on my laptop and then one day, black screen without a cursor or anything. I can only power the unit off and on, but with nothing other than a black screen I can't do anything. Tried the "ctrl-password" step but nothing. Nothing on the keyboard has any effect, I can only do a hard power off/on.

The only thing I can think of, all had been working fine when my battery died. My laptop automatically shut down and went to blank (not black) screen. I plugged it in for a while to charge but ever since then, I can power on, I hear the harddrive spin and the fan comes on, but I never get anything other than a black screen. Did your problem start after a power issue?
