Windows 10: problem creating System Image of Dell e6420 laptop with windows 7 SP1 Pro 64bit

Hello All, I am definitely no expert when it comes to backup, haven't ever bothered much with it foolish I know but since I am about to mess about the the OS on my laptop, which may not achieve what I'm hoping for, I'd like to be able to restore the machine to exactly what I have now, which works well enough but not perfectly. So I decided to make a system image and a system repair disk. I've never done this before, but from a bit of research it seemed simple enough. I plugged in a 2TB portable drive with 1.3 TB free, went to Control Panel/ Backup and Restore/ Create Syste

Dell E6420 can't access the camera

My laptop has issues detecting the camera.

I did a BIOS diagnosis and no issues.

Dell told me that it may be a compatibility issue because my system has not been tested.

it does not show up on devices either.

They suggested installing Dell Webcam Central but they are not sure if it will work or be a risk to my OS as it only works up to Windows 7.

Any idea if installing will be a risk?

or do ppl have any solutions?

It looks like you've already tried all of the troubleshooting steps I'd normally recommend in a situation like this, such as reinstalling drivers and even reinstalling Windows.

The fact that you've reinstalled Windows tells me it's most likely a hardware problem. The Dell E6420 has audio hardware that should just work with the generic audio drivers Windows 10 installs by default, so I'd suggest that the problem is faulty audio hardware.

I'd recommend getting in touch with the seller you purchased the laptop from to at least find out if the audio has ever worked on the laptop.

Dell E6420 laptop "Missing Operating System" after windows 10 upgrade

I upgraded two different Dell E6420 laptops one with an SSD drive and one with a HDD from Windows Pro 64. Both resulted in a "Missing Operating System" message after the I think the first reboot durning the install process. I tried repairing the boot
records and dskchk but no luck. I have been able to install windows 10 from a USB but then it's unlicensed.
