    Problem: I can't rename my PC with just one character change because I get the error...


    I was able to rename my PC 308-99ASINB09PFS1M19July-15-2022 this past Friday morning three days ago when the M2 MacBook Air came out, but I can't rename it again to 308-99ASINB09PFS1M19July-18-2022 to reflect the fact that my PC is still $308.99 renewed on AMZN this July 18th, 2022. Should I wait until at least August 1st and try to rename it to 308-99ASINB09PFS1M19Aug-1st-2022 that Monday morning? If the price is lower than $308.99 renewed on Amazon, the number at the beginning will reflect that. I'm trying to make a plan for when I will be able to get a new PC without it coming off as anythi

    Renaming PC

    Did the steps to rename my pc but when I restarted the computer it didn't change on my screen.

    Went back in to re-do it but it was showing the new name. So, I restarted again to see if it would change on my log in screen and it didn't. Old name shows when waking the pc to log in but new name is listed when I go to About PC. What am I doing wrong?

    We appreciate you getting back to us. To change the cmd name, we suggest that you follow this steps:

    • Open a Command Prompt (Adimin) window: Win+X, A, Alt+Y
    • Then run the following command to change your computer name to Donner: WMIC ComputerSystem where Name=COMPUTER-NAME call Rename Name=NewName
    • Reboot your PC.
    • Try to run ipconfig / all command, you should find that the Host Name in Windows IP Configuration list has been changed to the new name.

    Keep us posted with the result.
