  1. Problem logging in using network credentials, how to solve this issue?

Trying to establish connection between my two laptops Laptop 1 is the server laptop and lap 2 is the new to merge an app on both. However, when I try to enter my network credentials of laptop 1 on laptop 2 so I can start the process, I keep getting msg that username or password is incorrect. To me it seems like it is the administrative password and not my Microsoft account password as I have already tried resetting my microsoft password and it is not helping. Please advice.

    :)

  2. Network Credentials

    Hi Sammy,

To assist you better regarding your concern with network credentials, have you checked the Windows credentials for any information about the username and password for the network credentials? If not yet, follow the steps below to access Windows Credentials
    manager.

    • Press the Windows icon on the desktop.
    • Type in Windows Credentials.
We would appreciate as well if you could provide us a screenshot.

Let us know how it goes.

  3. Enter Network Credentials issue.

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

It seems like you're facing issues with accessing shared folders on your desktop from your laptop after a clean install of Windows 11. The "Enter Network Credentials" prompt is asking for the correct credentials to access the shared folders. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

    1. Check Username and Password: Double-check that you are entering the correct username and password. The credentials you need to enter are those associated with your desktop where the shared folders are located. If you're using a Microsoft account to log into your desktop, you should use the associated email and password.
    2. Use Correct Network Path: When entering the network credentials, make sure you are using the correct network path. The path should resemble the following:

      \\computername\sharedfolder

Replace "computername" with the actual name of your desktop computer and "sharedfolder" with the name of the shared folder you're trying to access.
    3. Update Credentials: If you're sure you're using the correct credentials but still facing issues, you can try updating the credentials in the Credential Manager on your laptop:

      a. On your laptop, go to the Control Panel. b. Navigate to User Accounts > Credential Manager. c. Under "Windows Credentials," click on "Add a Windows credential." d. In the "Internet or network address" field, enter the name of your desktop computer. e. Enter the correct username and password for your desktop.
    4. Check Folder Permissions: On your desktop, ensure that the shared folders have the appropriate permissions set up for the user account you're using to access them. Right-click on the shared folder, go to "Properties," and under the "Sharing" tab, ensure that the correct users or groups have the necessary permissions.
    5. Network Reset: If the issue persists, you might consider performing a network reset on both your desktop and laptop. This can sometimes help resolve network-related issues. To do this, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Network Reset.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.

    Best regards

Problem logging in using network credentials, how to solve this issue?

Problem sharing files and Network Credentials error

Hello dalchina, thank you for responding with your suggestions and links. I've been kinda sidelined by life here recently and haven't had the time to devote to my laptop issues. But I have been reading your links and the related threads and trying to formulate a path to follow. My thoughts are to put my effort into solving the "Network Credentials Expired" error, in hopes that if I'm successful, I'll reestablish contact with the shared folders on my PC. If I can do that, I'll live with all the mess I created changing a bunch of settings I probably didn't need to change. If I'm not successful, I'll probable just reset the laptop back to factory settings by re-installing windows. It's only 3 weeks old and I've only installed a couple programs which I can easily reinstall. With the laptop back to default settings, I'll follow the tutorials for networking, file sharing and hopefully I can turn off the network credentials setting so this won't happen again.
Thank you again for your time and help, I'll post again when I get a final outcome.

Hello dalchina, thank you again for your help. I have fixed my "network credentials password error". It was actually a pretty easy fix. I followed one of your links and read about windows credentials manager issues. I started looking and saw some things that didn't look quite right. So I deleted all of the credentials listed in the credential manager in my laptop and my PC and listed my laptop IP address and name, password on my PC and my PC IP address and name, password on my laptop and it worked. I'll continue to read up on the networking and sharing tutorials and might go in and check if I should change any other settings. But for now it has been successful. thanks again
