Windows 10: Problem opening a .wav file

I regularly receive and open .wav files on my computer. There is one file I've received from a trusted source that I cannot open/download. The download says it's 40.4MB, but when I download it, the properties screen says it's 00:00:00 in length. The error message I receive when trying to download says "We can't open 23-0914-1. It's encoded in a format that isn't supported. 0xC00D36B4.Is the problem on my end I have McAfee Antivirus on my computer, or is it on the sender's end?

Can't open .wav files, some .mp3's with Windows 10 Creators Update

Checking some sound settings may help resolve the issue. First, let's set Windows Media player to be the default program for WAV files to see if it helps. Follow the steps below:

• Open Settings.
  
• Click Default apps, then select Choose default apps by file type.
  
• Locate .wav, then change default program to Windows Media Player.
  
• Try to open the .wav files to test.

Cannot Play WAV files

What do you see when you do this:

1. Open File Explorer
2. Navigate to your music folder
3. Right-click a problem .wav file
4. Left-click Open with
5. Left-click Windows Media Player

 

Opening .WAV file that was not saved

hi dave, i downloaded the audacity and was able to use the import raw data function, and then exported it as a .wav file. then windows media player was able to open the file but unfortunately, it did not play ….. actually sounded maybe like it was playing
it very fast.... but it was inaudible. if you have any other suggestions with using it in audacity, please let me know.....seems like i am closer.
