Windows 10: Problem regarding Music files

I have a problem regarding music files. when i tried to open some folders containing music files a popup appears saying access denied. when I tried to open groove music app no songs are displayed. I have tried it with Winamp and VLC player but no songs are displayed. Even I tried to delete folders but I'm not able to.

Hi John,

As you want to set Windows Media Player as default application to open songs, I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Navigate to Start>Settings>System.
• In the left navigation pane, click on Default Apps.
• In the right pane, under Music Player, click on Groove
  and select Windows Media Player.

If the issue still persists, follow the steps provided below:

• Right click on Start and select Control Panel.
• Change the View by to Large icons.
• Click on Default Programs.
• Click on Set your default programs.
• Select Windows Media Player from the Programs list.
• Click on Save in the bottom right corner to save the changes.
• Restart the computer and check for status.

Music Metadata grabber

Been working on sorting movies/tv shows/music and looking for something thats free and grabs metadata for my music files. I could do it all manually, but having something that helps would be nice. Anyone got a suggestion?

Thank you for posting your concern here in Microsoft Community and welcome to the Windows 10 Family. I would be happy to assist you.

I would suggest you to place the music files in the Music folder under My Documents in the same drive where the Operating System is installed for the Music App to start syncing.

However if the issue still persist, I would suggest you follow the below steps to restore the default Libraries in Windows and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Step 1 : Show the Libraries

• Go to This PC ( Computer )
• Click on View
• Click on Navigation Pane
• Check “show all folders”
• Check “Show Libraries”
• Do not uncheck anything that is already checked

Step 2 : Restore Default Libraries

• Now,
• Locate your libraries in the left hand pane
• Right Click
• Click on Restore Default Libraries
