Windows 10: Problem Running Bitstream Font Navigator under Windows 10

I am having a problem running an old version of Bitstream Font Navigator version 4.0 on my laptop running Windows Home version 10.0.18362. Whether running it from my hard drive or a thumb drive, I get the error:



I am at a loss, because the required folder exists in the directory containing the fontnav.exe file. The program runs successfully on my Win XP SP3 desktop, ran on my Dell laptop under Windows 7, and runs on a friends Toshiba laptop running Windows Home version 10.0.1809. I have tried running it in Safe Mode, using selective startup without Startup items and with and without system services, but always get the same error. I've tried running it under every compatibility mode going back to Win95.


Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem, or further troubleshooting steps I can take to get it running on my laptop?

Font Problem after update. Some Fonts are not working.


Unfortunately not having Bitstream Font Navigator nor Corel Draw [Yes, I've used them in the past but not since WinXP] I am not able to duplicate the issue on a few computers, both Desktops, Notebooks and a couple of Tablets. The usual suspects are third-party programs, in your case would be Bitstream and/or Corel Draw. Have you tried finding a free Font program on the 'net to see what it shows. Could even boot to a Linux LiveDVD such as Mint or Ubuntu to see if the display and Fonts are correct.

 

Windows 10 Creators Update fonts issue

I have had a similar problem. I have used Bitstream font navigator for a long time and eventually my experiment and google I discovered to allow the use of font links it appear to have solved the issue but it hasn't. Now every time I turn my computer
on I now have to reload my fonts into the font navigator. It is a shame that microsoft have brought out an update with reduced functionality.

After the last update (I am on Build 15063 now) some of my fonts are messed up. I cannot see them from Corel Draw, there are blank spaces where the fonts are supposed to be. If I hover over the blank spaces then it says fontname (not found). If I go to my font navigator (Bitstream Font Navigator) I can see all the font names but if I click on the defective ones there is no preview. Re-installing the fonts does not work. The only workaround is to rebuild the font cache and reboot. After I do this everything is normal until the next reboot.
