Windows 10: Problem saving files to Desktop

Windows 10: I can't save files to the actual desktop but I can save files to the picture folder on that desktop. If I look in file explorer/users/name/desktop the file goes there upon saving but it doesn't go on the true desktop or give any type of error. I went in the Windows Security App and turned off Controlled folder access and that didn't help. What can I do to fix this issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Saves log files ?

You can either read the files in Windows or my preferred method is.....

You can then run cleaner, you will see the log files listed, then if you right click you can save as a text file and then have a read. You may also get an "error reporting" log listed seperatly.

 

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

 

Saving Files To The Desktop

Hi,

I noticed that when files are saved to the Desktop in Windows 7, the file were just saved - that was all.

However, in the case of Windows 10, after the files were saved, another file appeared on screen, showing the files saved on the Desktop.

I think that the latter is completely unnecessary and regressive.

Therefore, I suggest that the same format should be used as in Windows 7, i.e. just save the files without showing another screen with the files appended in the drive where they are saved.
