Problem upgrading to Win 10 on a clean installed Win 7

Before the reformat, I had Win 10 upgrade from free offer with Win 7 I reformatted an old hdd to check for bad sector. After reinstalling Win 7, I downloaded the Media creation tool for win 10. When I tried to upgrade using the media creation tool, I get an error code 0x80072f8f-0x20000. I searched the forum and found that this was a TLS issue. I follow the instruction to easyfix51044. This did not resolved the problem as I still can't "upgrade" win 7 to win 10 using the Media creation tool.If I do a win 10 install with a USB, Is the digital key tied to the win 7 product key? Do I just u

Clean install with Win 10 Upgrade

Wow, talk about a hassle just to have a dual boot clean install of Win 7/8 along with Win 10.

Using the steps you mentioned, I'd have to do the following:

    1) Get my old HD that I have and connect it to the PC.

    2) Clone my current HDD to the old drive to back up everything, then disconnect the back up.

    3) Do the upgrade to Windows 10 within Win 7.

    4) At some point make the ISO DVD.

    5) Reconnect the backup drive and clone from it back to my work HDD. That way everything is restored the why it was.

    6) Now at this point I *should* be able to do a clean install dual boot of Win 10.

Is MS going to pay me for all the time with this take???

As a beta tester since Win 95, I find this process insane. MS use to send a complementary install disc to all the testers, and later with Win 7 you could just download the ISO and make a disc, but they were all full versions that allowed you to do a clean
install from the beginning...no upgrade required.

Upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10 Puzzle

Ok, so here is my problem.

I currently have my 1.5 TB hdd partitioned in half. The first half is blank, and the second half has Windows 7 installed and activated. Unfortunately, I learned that I cannot combine the 2 partitions back together to diminish the partition split and maximize
my hdd space like intended because I am only able to increase the first partition or shrink the 2nd.

So my problem is that I would like to upgrade from my Windows 7 to Windows 10 (which I am fairly confident in how to do it) but I need to use the free upgrade available to me to install Windows 10 to the 1st partition and not the 2nd one.

I created a USB bootable Windows 10 using the Windows 10 setup tool, but it gives me the following warning:

    • If you are going to install Win 10 on your PC clean for the first time, you'll need a Win 10 product key.
    • If you are going to upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10, you won't need to enter a product key.
The problem is that I need to sort of do both. I want to upgrade my Windows 7 to Windows 10 but on the 1st partition instead of the 2nd one that currently has Windows 7.

Does anyone have any helpful suggestions for me?!

Problem upgrading to Win 10 on a clean installed Win 7

is hardware OK (Win 7) for upgrade to windows 10

I think in one of the other PC with win 7 or win 8.1 I run media creators tools and in some step prompt/found graphics card not supported... for win 10. I didn't found alone reading specs of win 10, but the tool says me... after changed graphics card the tool said all OK and continued OK with upgrade... That I ask to reach this step in this current PC - win 7 - must be all OK for the upgrade? Or must continue to upgrade to show this?
    and got to point

    • UPGRADE this PC now
    • Create media(DVD, USB stick, ISO)
is hardware OK (Win 7) for an upgrade to windows 10 for this PC???
