Windows 10: Problem when trying to wake from screen sleep

I recently updated to the latest version of Windows 10 so I could use the Xbox game pass for PC. Ever since then every time my computer goes into sleep mode I can’t wake it from sleep without having to restart. It’s just screen sleep, not full pc sleep (I don’t have an issue coming back from that).

When ever I try to wake it up my main monitor wakes up but can’t find an input, and my second monitor wakes up but doesn’t show anything for 15 seconds, after which it shows a dimmer version of my second display. I can still do stuff (like type) but my mouse pointer doesn’t show up. Even unplugging my main monitor doesn’t automatically switch my second monitor to be the primary display, it just shows the same dimmer version of my screen. The only way to fix this is by pressing the restart button on my case or holding down the power button.

This is a pretty darn annoying bug which has been occurring ever since I updated. Is there any fix? Is anyone else having this issue?

Does it only happen when waking up the computer from sleep?

To check for possible causes of this issue, we suggest you to run Power Troubleshooter. To do so, follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key.
• Type Troubleshooting.
• On the left side, click View all.
• Click Power.
• Follow the on-screen instructions.

If the issue still persists, you may update the Chipset driver from the device manufacturer.

I suggest you to check which devices are configured to wake up the computer from sleep by following the steps below:

• Right click on Start icon and select Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type the command line below:

Powercfg /devicequery wake_armed

3. Check if the devices (Keyboard, Mouse, Ethernet cable) are listed.

If the system is not going to sleep and going to Hybernate, the only option to wake up is to press the Power button.
