Windows 10: Problem with audio/already ran troubleshooting/ already checked for driver updates

Here is the problem: I plugged my headphones into my computer not into my monitor, because for some reason the audio is quieter when I do that and I could hear everything, no problem. But after an update, I can only hear sound when I plug my headphones back into the monitor. I check in system settings, go to sound, and I can hear the sound from loudspeaker RealtekR audio, when I test the audio, but when I go to Spotify or YouTube, there simply is no sound. So now I have to plug it back into the monitor, which sucks, because for some reason the sound is quieter when I do that...Would be coo

Now stay with me here and TRY TRY TRY to read the following carefully :

1. In the midst of browsing , Windows defender kicked in.
2. Windows finished the scan.
3. Moments later I've noticed a red X on the speaker icon.
4. When I clicked on the red X icon , the automatic troubleshooter popped up and began ticking for ever.
At the end it announced : Could not fix the problem.
5. Frantically checked the Audio drivers list. my realtek driver disappeared.
As to your reply to my question concerning the effectiveness of MS troubleshooter, your guesswork does not count as an exact science answer: "A variable" ROFLMAOL .

 

Troubleshooting a sound problem deletes my audio driver!

If, for example, you run the audio troubleshooter then it might well suggest deleting your audio driver & replacing it with an MS audio driver as a solution. If this is what you did then you might find, as I did & have many others have done, that your audio works well using the MS driver.

You can search this forum to see reports of problems others have had with RealTek drivers.

I have absolutely no idea why you mention Windows defender in your post. Similarly, I do not understand what has happened to make you moan about MS as you do; you do not explain what the symptoms were or what steps you took so I cannot comment.

I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if it helps.

Method 1:
Run inbuilt audio troubleshooter and check if it works. Follow the steps given below.

• Press Windows Key +R, type
  Control Panel.
• Type troubleshooting in the search bar, click on troubleshooting.
• Now click on view all option.
• Click on Playing audio and follow the prompts to run the troubleshooter.

Note: If your computer is having problems playing sound, try using the Playing Audio troubleshooter to fix the problem. It checks for common problems with your volume settings,
your sound card or driver, and your speakers or headphones.

If the issue persists, follow method 2.

Method 2: Try updating the Audio drivers from the manufacturer's website and check if the issue persists.

Follow the steps to update the audio drivers:

• Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand the Sound, Video and game controllers.
• Right-click on the Sound card and click on Update driver software.
• Restart the computer and check.
