Windows 10: Problem with Controlled folder access and third-party antivirus things-

My question is that I've been using this app called FL studios, Frooty loops, and its music and it's not working because of the Controlled folder access but when I got to Antivirus protection on the 'controlled Folder access' it doesn't show because I have a "third party antivirus app" that's protecting my computer. It doesn't show up at ALL and it has this error when it says that "IT administrator is limited-". I've tried everything and I want to have my virus protection on along with the Controlled folder access on too but if I can. How do I turn on controlled folder access with all this inf

Controlled folder access Problem

I want to use ( Controlled folder access ) for my custom folders like system 32,
but want to remove the default folders like the desktop folder .
Found in :
windows defender > windows defender security center > virus & threat protection >
virus & threat protection settings > Controlled folder access :

Sometimes I cant save or edit things at the desktop with Controlled folder access On.
Yet if turned Off ; then I cant protect my custom folders.

Hows protecting the desktop more important than system 32 ?

Asking for advice to get around this by any means, to delete the default list, so only my custom folders remain in the control access list.

 

Controlled Folder Access

Hi.

I've been using Controlled Folder Access recently but I'm having a problem getting one application to change/create files. I use doPDF8 to create PDF files, but when CFA is active, it won't save my work. The notice explaining that something has tried accessing the folder only comes up once. (I assume that if you don't do anything about it, the program trying to access the file is put on the 'black list'.) Turning CFA off and then on again causes the notice to appear once more. However, the notice seems to suggest that it is C:\Windows\splwow64.exe that is trying to access/create the file, but when I put this into the 'allow app control' list, it still doesn't work. The only way I can find to get the PDF file created is to turn off CFA, create the file and then turn it back on again.

Any ideas?

Controlled folder access problems

I turned on controlled folder access in latest Windows 10 and tested with a few programs I use. I tested by adding Libreoffice calc (c:\program files\libreoffice5\scalc.exe) as an allowed app. However, with controlled folder access on I can't save any spreadsheets that I modify in my Documents folder, which is one of the controlled folders. Same problem with saving an image from either Gimp or Photoshop Elements when I add them to the list of allowed apps.

In its present state this feature seems pretty unusable.
